SWIFT GPI SEMI-AUTOMATIC WITH UETR CODE

A GPI Semi-Automatic Transaction with UETR Code refers to a payment process in the SWIFT network that leverages the Global Payment Innovation (GPI) tracker for transparency and traceability.

Here’s how it works:
1. Semi-Automatic Nature: The transaction requires manual intervention to validate and complete. Specifically, the payment cannot be directly processed through automated reconciliation but must be verified in the SWIFT room.
2. Verification with TRN and UETR:
• The Transaction Reference Number (TRN) (found in field F20 of the SWIFT message) is used to identify the transaction.
• The Unique End-to-End Transaction Reference (UETR) is then utilized to confirms the flow of funds into receiver’s account.
3. Fund Validation: The sender initiates the payment, but the funds are credited to the receiver’s account only after manual confirmation using both the TRN and UETR in the SWIFT ROOM environment.
4. Global or Local Server: The transaction details, including the UETR, can be accessed through either a Global Server or a Local Server .

This process is commonly used to maintain control over high-value or sensitive payments, ensuring funds are only released after validation, thereby enhancing accuracy and security.
